Kent Nagano – Dmitri Tcherniakov – Bel Air Classique – 2011
Dmitri Tcherniakov loses the plot in this production. Bernanos and Poulenc’s spirit is totally derailed. The Carmélites are portrayed as members of a strange sect; the final scene shows a collective suicide with Blanche saving the other sisters from a gas explosion. Moreover, Susan Gritton is not the most unforgettable Blanche de la Force.To be avoided by lovers of the work.
